Home, Sweet Home

Moonshade Pools
A lovely facade of Mossy Bricks. I like the mixing of standard building blocks and premade pieces. Highland Sanctuary, by Nouvae@Greybriar NA.
After 7 weeks, 2 days, 17 hours, 16 minutes and 13.5 seconds, I’m home at last!  RIFT seems like a brand new game, going from minimum settings that were just about all my laptop could run, back to the tower and ultra settings.  It may be saying something, that very nearly the first thing I did on logging in was check the builds I did while I was gone, to see how they looked on my tower.  I’m not trying to toot my own horn, but I think I’ve managed to impress myself with a couple of them.  More, the dimensions I toured while I was away look even more spectacular now, and I do apologize for the quality of the screenshots over the last several weeks.
Faering Woods
Small and cozy, this Faering Woods dimension is beautiful. (LNF) Treehouse III, by Aenven@Faeblight NA.
In celebration of being home, I thought I’d hop to a couple of the shards, and just do a quick post.  To see what’s inside these wonderful little cottages and splendid manors, visitors will just have to go and see for themselves, with a couple of exceptions.
Faen's Retreat
Making the most of the mud hut…and the rest of Faen’s Retreat. Sleeping Kitten Gardens, by Arianaka@Laethys OC.
Home is different things to different people.  In game, how people express that is something that is very interesting to me.  I did learn one valuable lesson from the Cozy Cottages contest:  never, ever to run another competition based on actual houses.  People take it too personally, or they read more into a subjective opinion than there is.
Hailol
A blue and white cottage, perfectly suited for Hailol. Ginger’s Fantasy Cottage, by Quivir@Wolfsbane NA.
The long drive home (12 hours of road rage, fueled by heavy metal) allowed plenty of time for thoughts on another contest, to sort out rules and think of prizes and themes, to mull over ideas that I liked from past contests and ideas that didn’t work so well.
Warden's Point
Home in the smallest of places. Pinehill Cottage, by Hige@Zaviel EU.
Today marks the official start of spring for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, and autumn for those south of the Equator.  Last year saw a flurry of spring builds.  I haven’t seen too many this year so far, but there is still plenty of time.
Dormant Core
A palatial mansion, well suited for the tropics of Dormant Core. Poly’s Crib, by Polynomia@Gelidra EU.
At any rate, it’s good to be home.  Training was fun in it’s own way, forming relationships with peers from all over the world and learning from them, but it’s better to walk through the front door and surprise the kids (even if they’re not really kids anymore).
Kestrel's Cry Ravine
A home that must be defended. Forteresse sous la neige, by Irsha@Phynnious EU.
I hope you enjoyed this teeny, tiny handful of homes.  I certainly enjoyed touring them.
Happy Touring!
